The One with the Girls Weekend

This past weekend I headed to Galena, IL to have a girls weekend.  Hot tubing, wine drinking, girl chat.  It was the perfect remedy for the winter blues.  We planned it pretty last minute, but were able to score a 5 bedroom house for a super reasonable price since it is the off season.  I found the house through VRBO, but you can rent directly through this website. It is really nice, because you can also use the owner club which has a nice gym, and an indoor and outdoor pool too.  The house was well taken care of and had plenty of space for us so I would definitely recommend it!  We arrived late Friday night with just enough time for some hot tubing.  Saturday we checked out the gym at the owners club and then headed to downtown Galena for some wine tasting.  Galena has a really cute downtown right along the Mississippi River.  It would have been nice to have more time to check out all the cute little shops they had, but maybe next time. We had dinner at Fried Green Tomato's which was delicious and then headed home to hang out at the house!

Such a fun weekend.  Maybe we will have to make this an annual thing!

Have a great Thursday!

The One with the Bulls Game

Happy Friday all!  Even though this was a short week (we had Monday off) it still seemed to drag on.

Kyle and I got lucky last week and were handed tickets to a bulls game from my work.  They were in some fancy box with all you can eat food and drink so it was really fun to get to go to a game in style.  The Bulls ended up losing the same which I think is due to my bad luck.  I don't think they have ever won a game when I am in the arena so it clearly must be me.

It was a snowy freezing Monday night is Chicago to a great way to get us out of the house!

I am headed to Galena this weekend for a girls weekend.  We rented a house and are still deciding between wine tasting and snowshoeing.  It will be so nice to have a relaxing weekend.  Stay warm those of you on the East coast getting pounded with 30 inches of snow!  We are getting a little snow today in Chicago, but it will hopefully be done by noon!

Have a great weekend!

Loving Lately

There's a few things on my wish list right now that I'm dying for, but know it should wait until after we move.  There is nothing worse than having to pack everything you own into boxes so I figured if I can acquire a few less things in the next month or two that still just slightly lessen the load. So after the move, I'm already saving for a few things I know I'd love.

I'm on a serious black and white kick lately, at least more than usual and I'm sure that will show in some of the decor we pick for the new place.  I am especially loving this runner; I'm thinking for the kitchen, but I'm going to have to wait and see!

A KING BED!  We currently have a queen bed and while it seems like plenty of space, nothing beats the feeling after a solid night of sleep.  I am a champion sleeper and am definitely one that needs her beauty sleep.  We are going to have to do some serious research on this topic to make sure we get a good one.  That said, with a new bed comes a new headboard or frame.  We just got our current headboard when we moved into our current apartment 3 years ago and I love it so it will be really sad to get a new one.  I'm thinking this time I just want the headboard rather than a full on frame so it will be much cheaper, but still a big decision!

Throw blankets are my most recent weakness.  How cute is this pom pom throw from Nordstroms?! It just seems pointless to buy before we move. I may just have to start buying apartment stuff and have it shipping to my moms for her to bring up once we move in.  #HiMom #extrastorage #impatient

And a few links I'm loving lately..

How crazy is this article about marriage! My how things have changed over the years!

I love carpool karaoke and I love Adele so obviously I love this video!

Happy Wednesday!

Goodbye 2015!

Happy New Year!!  We had a nice relaxing NYE at home and were in bed by 11:00!  This is the second year in a row that we haven't made it to midnight and I couldn't be more happy about it! It was a hectic week at work with is being the end of the year so it's really nice to have a weekend with no commitments.  Our holidays were so fun and I'm sad they're over, but excited for the new year will bring in 2016.  I didn't necessarily finalize my list of resolutions and think I will just work on improving all of them. We started 2016 on a productive note that included a workout, movie, yoga class, hawks game, and a bulls game.  I'd say that's a pretty packed day and a great start to 2016.  Hope everyone had a safe and fun new years!  Here's to making 2016 the best year yet!

Aren't these Christmas flowers gorgeous!
