Running Update - Week of September 7th






Running Update:

Sunday - Rest day after my 20 miler on Saturday.  K and I went on a long walk so I still got my "steps" in for my Jawbone. It was nice to get my legs moving, because they were definitely achy after that 20 miles.


Monday - Monday morning came way too early as it always does.  I was planning on getting up and doing a few miles before work, but the bed was just too comfortable.  5 miles did happen after work though, they were slow and painful, but I got them done. I am really trying to stick to the training schedule these last few weeks before the marathon.  Every little bit counts at this point.

Tuesday -  Waking up was a little easier and I fit in 2.5 miles before work.  I had 8 miles on the schedule for the day and I thought I would split it up for the day just so that it didn't take up so much of my evening.  My ankle started to bother me on my afternoon run.  I'm still not sure what it is, but I only ended up making it 2.5 miles before deciding it would be best not to push it. So it was a total of 5 for the day.

Wednesday - Jam packed day and I knew it couldn't run after work, because I had something that would take up my whole night.  My ankle was definitely still bothering me that morning so it turned into a rest day.


Thursday - I'm really falling off the bandwagon.  I'm starting to really worry about my ankle so I decided to take another day to let it heal. It was definitely starting to feel better from the rest so I figured one more day and it would definitely be ready for a run.

Friday - My ankle was feeling much better and I figured since I had had two days of rest I might as well attempt my long run. This weekend that only consisted of 12 miles, but it happened to be pouring rain in Chicago when I wanted to run.  I was bound and determined to get that run out of the way right after work; the thought of getting to sleep in on Saturday morning just a little bit was way too tempting.  I set out not sure if I would go for 8 or 12 and by the time I was out there and soaking wet I figured might as well finish the 12.  My phone was kind of glitchy towards the end of the run, I thought maybe I accidentally  got it wet from the rain.  It kept pausing my nike running app so I had to stop a few times and start it again.  This is the first time I have had trouble with this app so I hope it won't become a regular thing! The lakefront path was dead, which was so nice not having it packed like it usually is on Saturday morning.  And I even saw a couple getting engaged in the pouring rain on the beach - it was so romantic!




Saturday - I debated going outside, but just the thought of being in the freezing cold again after my Friday night run sounded like a bad idea. Treadmill it was - I didn't have a set number of miles I was planning on running, I just wanted to get my legs moving after my long run.  I only made it 2.5 miles before I decided I was done. 

Total Week Miles: 24.5 which is much lower than average lately, but I have a feeling next week is going to be a big one so I will need the rest.  I have a 20 miler on the schedule for next Saturday.
